Hello World!

Unexpected Revenue Source from Associate Content

Posted in Money by cd on April 8, 2007

That was what I discovered at Associate Content. After spending months reading and implementing SEO (Search Engine Optimization), I finally took up a common advice to write more articles and submit them to Ezines and article directories, creating link back and exposure to my sites.

My first Associate Content’s article is an existing blog entry from my other site which I modified and added more content to meet the 400-word minimum. Then a week later, I received an email from AC offering me money for this make-shift article out of the blue.

WOW! The pay was very little, but it was reasonable given the article barely hit the minimum-word requirement, and I had just started out with AC, with no feed backs and page views for my section.

This revenue source will definitely stay high my list. I see many advantages of writing articles for Associate Content:

1. Time – I don’t have to write anything new. All I need is to modify my blog entries to meet the requirement and submit them as articles.
2. Flexibility – I can write about any topics I like. This last point makes it much more attractive than writing paid reviews.

Get Paid From YouTube?

Posted in Money by cd on January 27, 2007

I wrote about Eefoof’s paying users for uploading content and predicted that this method would attract users to the site and possibly steal existing YouTube’s fans. Moreover, Eefoof can pose a challenge to Youtube and motivate the latter to come up with a revenue sharing scheme to its biggest users.

And what did I see today on the news?

Chad Hurley, co-founder of YouTube, said Saturday that the wildly successful site will start sharing revenue with its millions of users.

Hurley, who along with the site’s co-founders sold YouTube to Google for $1.65 billion in November, said one of the major innovations the site is working on is a way to allow users to be paid for content.

Oh la la. Viva La Competición.

Eefoof should be very worried now. [Link via reddit ]

Snooping for the next big thing

Posted in Money by cd on December 6, 2006

I don’t know what has gotten into me that made me obsessive about having my own business and/or making money via online medium. But so far, almost every interesting biz which caught my attention already passed is heyday or I am not one of the first users. Let see!

  1. Buying/Selling domains: good before dotcom crashed.
  2. Selling on Ebay and Amazon: the market is too saturated, I don’t think I make much profit.
  3. Online advertising: people start catching on
  4. Design web sites: also good during the dotcom boom.

Quite interesting, I graduated at the time the dotcom crashed. For some reason, I hated IT, Technology with a passion and did everything I could to stay away from it. I stayed away for more than a year doing other things, and now I can’t stay away from it.

No more goofing around, I’m now all eyes and ears looking for the next BIG thing.
